Unity College recently organised a two-day counselling session on January 15 and 17 for classes IX and XI, led by Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti and College Counsellor Ms Nisar Fatima.
Conducted by Mr Asif Azhar from Extramarks Education, the first day of the session focused on the crucial role of effective communication in success, not just in interviews but also in daily interactions. Mr Azhar discussed verbal and non-verbal communication, emphasising active listening, facial expressions, paralinguistics, proxemics, body language, the usage of appropriate words, gestures, eye contact, and cultural sensitivity. He also provided guidance to students on various communication barriers that could hinder effective communication.
On the second day, there was a thorough conversation about fostering resilience in students. The focus was on recognising and effectively managing emotions to navigate stressful situations, cultivating inner strength. Students received guidance on overcoming anxiety, building resilience through purpose in life, fostering healthy thoughts, expressing feelings, practicing breathing exercises, and embracing change. A visually captivating video reinforced these concepts. The session concluded with an exploration of unconventional careers, encouraging students to pursue their passions in specific fields.
Principal, Mr Francis Castelino, expressed gratitude to Mr Azhar for enlightening students on confident expression. He also thanked his entire team for their thoughtful contribution. The session significantly boosted students' confidence, preparing them to deal with various situations in life.
