In compliance with the above view, the Primary section of Unity College put up an array of informative and entertaining presentations on 18th April which is celebrated as the World Heritage Day to raise awareness among students about preserving our heritage sites and the efforts required to conserve them.
Students were apprised of the true meaning of heritage, its importance and the need of its preservation. It was followed by a host of activities conducted class wise. Class I students thoroughly enjoyed a ‘Pictorial Quiz’ and participated whole heartedly. Students of class II had to show a photograph of themselves at any heritage site and share their fond memories of the visit with the class. In class III, a ‘Collage Making’ session was organized to depict different cultures and heritage of the States of India. Class IV displayed 3D models with a lot of zeal on the topic ‘Wonders out of Waste’. Lastly, Class V gave expression to their thoughts through drawings, paintings and elocutions on how to preserve the monuments and prevent them from being lost. The students enthusiastically participated in the activities and showcased their skills in outstanding performances by them. These activities helped them discover the timelessness of the heritage monuments.
The objective behind organizing these special activities for the students was to enlighten them about the value and significance that the world’s heritage holds. Students enjoyed thoroughly and were familiarized with the rich cultural heritage we have, along with the need to work towards protecting it. Protecting and preserving were the take out from these special sessions conducted. Overall, the day proved very fruitful and enriching for the students.
