Unity College celebrated Republic Day with enthusiasm and pride through a series of events on January 25 and 26, 2025. The festivities reflected national unity and commitment to the ideals of the Indian Constitution. On January 25, the Pre-Primary Section engaged in creative activities to introduce young learners to the significance of Republic Day. Highlights included a ramp walk by Lower Nursery students showcasing India’s national symbols, a tricolour ice-cream craft by Upper Nursery, and class Prep’s tank model-making activity. These activities fostered creativity, teamwork, and patriotism among the children.
A special assembly on January 25 featured a divine rendition by Maryam Zehra (VI-A), a pledge by Dua Zehra (XI-C), inspiring speeches by Abiha Fatima (V-C) and Fatima Moosvi (XI-D), a quiz by Shaurya Fatima (XI-A), and a tongue-twister competition led by Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti, won by Wali Haider (IX-B). Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews urged students to embody true patriotism through education and compassionate action.
The Republic Day celebration on January 26 began with the National Flag unfurling by Secretary Mr Najmul Hasan Rizvi, followed by the National Anthem. Other dignitaries, including Jt Secretary Dr M Talha, Principal MrMathews and his wife Shweta Mathews, Vice Principal Mr Bharti, Principal II Shift Ms Shabana Ahmed, Principal ITI Mr S R Khan, Academic Advisor UEP Ms Tehseen Zaidi, and Administrative Officer Mr Farman Kazmi graced the occasion. Mr Rizvi highlighted the role of knowledge in preserving the nation’s heritage, urging students to fulfil their duties as citizens. The event, anchored by Yaseer Ahmad (XI-C), featured speeches by students Tuba Ahmad (XI-C) and Ashneen Fatima (II Shift), a Hindi poem by Sanad Ali (IX-B), and a quiz by Maryam Sheikh (X), celebrating the values of democracy and the Constitution. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal Mr Mathews and a sapling plantation as part of Van Mahotsav.
