HINDI DIWAS: A CELEBRATION OF LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

Unity College organised a special assembly to mark Hindi Diwas on September 11, 2025. As the official day coincided with a holiday, the celebration was held earlier with great enthusiasm and reverence. The occasion was graciously graced by Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews and Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti, and was meticulously prepared by Hindi teachers Dr Roopam Gupta and Ms Barkha Sharma.

The programme commenced with the recitation of Qur’anic verses by Raheeq Fatima (VIII-A), followed by a Sanskrit shloka by Hal Ata Zehra (VIII-A). KushaBano (VIII-B) administered the pledge, reaffirming respect for the national language. The theme of the day ‘BhashaHamariSanskriti Ki PehchanHai’ was highlighted through a thought-provoking speech by Aliya Zaidi (VIII-A), emphasising that honouring Hindi strengthens national pride. Junior students enlivened the occasion with a melodious group song ‘Hind DeshKeNivasi, Sabhi Jan EkHai’ dedicated to the language. Aliya Zehra (VIII-C) shared insightful facts about Hindi—its origin, its declaration as the official language, and its place in higher education institutions worldwide. Primary students added colour and charm with an action song ‘Hindi BhashaRashtra Ki Bhasha’, underlining the idea that language is a unifying force. The assembly concluded with an inspiring thought presented by Zainab Naqvi (VIII-A), highlighting the role of Hindi in uniting hearts and enriching cultural identity.

In his address, Vice Principal Mr Bharti commended the zealous students for their impressive performance and expressed gratitude to the Hindi faculty for their guidance and dedication. Concluding on an emotional note, he recited the stirring lines: ‘Vah HridayNahinHai, PattharHaiJismeinSwadeshKaPyaarNahin’—a reminder that love for one’s motherland is inseparable from respect for its language.

Through this celebration, Unity College reinforced the importance of nurturing love and respect for the national language among the younger generation.
