On September 25, 2025, a team of police officers from Thana Thakurganj visited Unity College to sensitise girl students about crimes against women and to empower them under Mission Shakti Police Commissionerate Lucknow (PanchamiCharanJagruktaAbhiyan).
The awareness campaign was led by Thana Prabhari, Mr Om Veer Singh Chauhan, along with Sub-Inspectors Mr Vineet Kumar and Mr RiteshRai. Female officers including Ms ShivaniVerma, Ms Priya Devi and Ms Shikha Shukla also participated actively in the programme.
The event was coordinated and attended by Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews, Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti, Senior Secondary In-Charge Ms Masroor Fatima Abdi and Counsellor Ms Nisar Fatima Rizvi. The programme commenced with a welcome of the guests by Mariyam Rizvi (XII-C), followed by a formal address by Principal Mr Mathews.
Ms Priya Devi addressed the students, acquainting them with essential helpline numbers such as 112 (Police Helpline), 1090 (Women Helpline) and 1076 (CM Helpline). Ms Shikha Shukla elaborated on various cybercrimes like fraud calls, threats, scams and digital arrest. She also shared additional helpline numbers including 181 (Women Helpline – a 24-hour confidential service for women and children facing violence) and 1098 (Child Helpline). She gave valuable safety tips, advising students to stay cautious, avoid fraudulent online job offers, never share OTPs or bank details, and not to succumb to emotional manipulation or blackmail. She urged girls to register complaints without fear and explained the role of the Anti-Romeo Squad in curbing eve-teasing and ensuring women’s safety.
Mr Om Veer Singh Chauhan further encouraged students to report incidents without hesitation, confide in family members, and seek timely help from the police.
The programme concluded with a joint vote of thanks proposed by Principal Mr Mathews and Vice Principal Mr Bharti, who expressed their deep gratitude to the police officials for their invaluable guidance and for empowering students with awareness that could protect them from potential dangers.
The session not only created awareness but also instilled confidence among the girls to face challenges with courage and vigilance.
