Every 26th July India honours the heroic sacrifices and bravery of the fallen martyrs in reclaiming the several lofty peaks of Ladakh the crown of India against the intruders. This year too, the triumph of our soldiers in 1999 was commemorated with utmost gaiety and fervour. The day fills our hearts with pride recalling the prodigious efforts of our soldiers.
In honour of the day, the Pre-Primary and Primary sections of Unity College organised a synchronous array of activities in the College campus. The activities were conducted to instil patriotismin students andsalute the brave sons of the country who achieved the height of valour in defence of the motherland.
Our toddlers of Lower Nursery put their artistic foot forward and made tri-colour badges in tandem with the theme of the day. Their love for colours mixed with huge admiration for the brave hearts produced masterpieces which decorated their uniforms. Upper Nursery showed commendation by bringing alive the likes of Lt. Manoj Pandey, Capt.VikramBatra,Capt. Anuj Nayyar through craft they used Popsicle sticks and craft paper to make soldiers. The young Unitians of Prep expressed their gratitude by making paper soldier hats. The students wore the beautifully crafted hats and felt the responsibility and pride the uniform of a soldier entails.
Keeping up with the fervour of the day the youngest class of Primary section -Class I used their top notch craft skills to make tri-colour paper soldiers, they recreated the day of 26thJuly,1999 by making the craft soldiers salute which speaks volumes about their understanding of the importance of the day. Class II decorated candles and lit them in the memory of the martyrs,the emanating light of the candles glorified the tales of utmost valour which were shared in the class. The creative minds of class III went a step ahead and designed a varied range of tricolour badges making the whole activity analogous to the cultures and ethnic backgrounds of our army men who come together to fight and win for a single cause.
The crowning accomplishment of the Kargil Vijay Diwas was the wreath making activity of classes IV and V. The students with heavy hearts remembered the supreme sacrifices of the soldiers of the Kargil war and their families who left no stone unturned to unfurl the Tiranga atop Tiger Hill. They also vowed to stand for the nation at all times. Their affection for the valiant soldiers could be seen in each and every petal and leaf. An eventful day culminated in laying down the wreaths in glory of the martyrs.
The presentations by the little ones made the event informative and enlightening. Headmistress, Kainaat Mansoor addressed and acknowledged the endeavour of the teachers and students and motivated them to do their best to safeguard the interest of the nation.
