The Annual Recitation and Declamation Competition, held on October 25, 2025, at Unity College, radiated an atmosphere of enthusiasm and eloquence as young learners from classes I to V displayed their flair for speech and expression. The event sought to nurture confidence, clarity, and the art of public speaking while celebrating the charm and rhythm of language. The day unfolded with spirited performances, thoughtful speeches, and melodious recitations that held the audience in rapt attention.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome extended to the distinguished guests — College Secretary Mr Najmul Hasan Rizvi, Jt Secretary Dr M Talha, Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews, Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti, and Primary Coordinator Ms Tazeen Rizvi. The esteemed panel of judges comprised Ms Meena Naqvi and Ms SaimaKulsoom for the Recitation Competition, and Ms Mahlaqua Siddiqui and Mr Hasan Mehdi for the Declamation Competition. Ms Sakeena Raza compered the event. Spiritual readings from the Holy Quran, ShrimadBhagwat Gita, and Holy Bible by Alfiya Fatima (V A), Maryam Zaidi (V B), and Mohd Kazim (V C) invoked divine blessings for the day’s proceedings.
The Recitation Competition for classes I to III set a vibrant and lyrical tone for the morning. Each section presented poems that reflected imagination and creativity — from the reflective ‘My Future’ and ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ to the humorous ‘A Roti’s Grudge’ and the delightful ‘I Saw My Teacher on Saturday’. The participants impressed the judges with their clarity, expression, and confidence, while colourful props and engaging backdrops added to the visual appeal.
The Declamation Competition for classes IV and V featured compelling speeches on inspiring themes such as ‘The Life and Teachings of the Youth of India’, ‘How to Be Confident’, and ‘The Power of Discipline and the Pursuit of Knowledge’. The young orators spoke with poise, conviction, and fluency, reflecting the College’s commitment to cultivating eloquence and self-assurance from an early age.
The judges commended the participants for their flawless diction, expressive intonation, and remarkable stage presence, noting their confidence at such a young age. Mr Rizvi praised the sincerity and eloquence of the speakers, appreciating the visible efforts of the teachers and expressing his confidence that the future of Unity lies in capable hands. Dr Talha encouraged the students to keep striving for excellence and the teachers to continue nurturing their potential. Mr Mathews appreciated the scintillating performances and the efforts of the students, remarking that the judgement of the event was extremely difficult as each poem and speaker kept the best foot forward. He urged the students to keep the momentum going till class XII and thanked Ms Rizvi for her relentless efforts in putting up a remarkable show. In his vote of thanks, Mr Bharti expressed heartfelt gratitude to the College Secretary, Mr Rizvi, for his gracious presence and commended the Primary Coordinator, Ms Rizvi, for her exemplary guidance in steering the Section towards an outstanding programme.
