A WEEK OF GIVING: FOUNDER'S DAY TRIBUTE AT UNITY COLLEGE

Unity College offered a heartfelt homage to its Founder President, Padma Bhushan Late Dr Kalbe Sadiq, on his 5th death anniversary, honouring him through acts of service that truly reflected his lifelong philosophy. Remembered as a visionary, a social reformer, a modern educationist, and a Messiah of the Downtrodden, Dr Sadiq’s legacy was celebrated with deep reverence and meaningful deeds.

The week-long commemoration commenced with a series of philanthropic visits across the city.

On November 18, students of classes XI-A, XI-C, and A sections of classes III to V visited Cheshire Homes India–Lucknow, after obtaining formal permission from the Chairman, Maj Gen V M Kalia, SM, VSM (Retd). The home accommodates around twenty physically handicapped individuals, many of whom are elderly. The students began with a quiet moment of soulful prayer in the all-religion prayer room before interacting with the inmates. They presented them with caps, socks, clothing, sugar and other daily essentials, spreading warmth and comfort. On November 19, students of class XI-B along with B sections of the Primary Wing visited SrimadDayanandBalSadam, an orphanage operating under the supervision of Minister Mr Ajay Prakash. The institution houses nearly one hundred children of various ages who are being nurtured with both basic and higher education. The students distributed similar provisions among the children, offering not just material support but also companionship and encouragement. The final visit was undertaken on November 20 by selected students from class XI-D and Primary C sections, who went to Rain Basera at the Medical College. There, they also moved from bed to bed, distributing sugar, oil, combs, toothbrushes and blankets to patients in need, making a small yet meaningful difference in their difficult circumstances.

All three outreach programmes were coordinated by Mrs Nisar Fatima Rizvi under the guidance of Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews and Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti. She was accompanied by teachers Mr Rajesh Pandey, Ms Ghazala Jafri, Mr Heerath Gupta, Ms Kisa Fatima, Ms IqraZehra Rizvi, Ms Maryam Fatima, Ms ShadanAzmat, Ms TasneemZehra and Mr AshabBaqar, along with lab assistants Mr Rajiv Srivastava and Mr Danish Abidi, whose ensured the success and smooth execution of every visit.

The Founder’s Day tribute reaffirmed Janab’s belief in serving the less fortunate, as Unity College upheld his ideals through compassionate acts that inspired students towards humanity and kindness.
