Founder's Message

‘Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere efforts, intelligent direction and skillful execution.'
These words of wisdom best describe the present state of our College. Our College is an institution oriented towards the cause of need based education, aiming at optimum growth. Ever since its inception, the College has the distinction of excelling in academic and extra-curricular activities.

Ours was truly a unique program that did not happen overnight. The vision of Unity College was the result of several journeys, including my own which led us down this path. As an educator I had an earnest desire to build up an institution where good quality education blended in all colours of human values could be imparted to all, irrespective of class, creed and religion. I feel proud to say that my lofty dream of a quality institution has taken shape through it. I also hold a deep passion for providing these children the opportunity to access the highest standards of holistic education.

Our vision to educate has been tested over the last 30 years and has proved to be effective and successful time and again, accepted and appreciated by the community. The College which had a humble beginning in 1987 today has got about 2,000 students and around 80 staff members on roll.

All these years, as I look back on Unity's journey, I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our community, dedication of our staff and the support and gratitude of the parents. Most of all, I am overwhelmed by the perseverance of our students, by their tenacity; their strength and the genuine goodness of their hearts.

Our mission to spread education to all has spread among the masses and our war against illiteracy and ignorance is still going on. For realizing the vision, we stand committed towards providing outstanding guidance, leadership, faculty and physical infrastructure to make a difference to our society.

I would like to thank all for believing and trusting our dreams. I give all my blessings to the staff, students, parents and all those associated with this institution. I pray to God, in His divine benevolence, continues to lead and guide this prestigious institution for generations to come.

Padma Bhushan Late Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq

As the world begins to grapple with the outcomes of the various crises precipitated by Covid, I am glad to report that the students of Unity have only gone from strength to strength. As always, the late Maulana Dr. Kalbe Sadiq Saheb's presence is still deeply missed but his values continue to inform the vision of the trustees, the determination of the faculty and staff and the aspirations of the students. We arc committed to his dream of making Unity an academy that produces the leaders of tomorrow in every field and most importantly creates moral and conscientious human beings who will help to fight the great crises of the 21st century: economic inequity and inequality, social injustice, climate change and the challenges posed by emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence amongst other things. Embarking on tackling these problems needs first and foremost a sound ethical foundation which the late Maulana often focused on. Indeed the two values which he often spoke about are humility and charity.
Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said
أَكْثِرُوا مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ تُرْزَقُوا
Increase your charity so that your sustenance becomes abundant. And Imam Reza (A. S.) said
التَّوَاضُعُ أَنْ تُعْطِيَ النَّاسَ مَا تُحِبُّ أَنْ تُعْطَاهُ
Humility is to give people that which you yourself would like to be given.
In a world where there is increasing inequality and many social ills stem from the arrogance of human beings, these two narration's will help you to always keep in mind those in need and also remember that we must never let our success make us arrogant or haughty.
Lastly, I would like to congratulate the entire Unity family for their continuous success in attaining new heights and I thank the parents of all students for having trusted us with their children, who will be the future ambassadors of Unity in the world.

Education is the key to the development ofa community, society and the country at large. Education is not only limited to how well you can read and write but whether you can communicate with and understand the world around you.
Good education not only teaches you skills but also helps you broaden your horizons, gain better perspective and teaches you to think for yourself. Unfortunately, the overarching problems-concerning each level of education-are quality and pertinence. India bears extensive difficulties in facing the requirements ofa growing and modern workforce.
Even though India has one of the world's largest number of university graduates and post graduates in various streams, we are not able to make each of them employable due to the mismatch between industry needs and school-university pipeline output.
Some of the key factors leading to this situation are listed below for our readers to deliberate and subsequently work upon to overcome them.
•Lack of qua I ity education at school level (conceptual learning Vs prevalent rote learning).
•Inadequate soft skills and specialized skills relevant for the given job.
•The career goals are not decided on the basis of one's own interest, aptitude, competencies, and awareness about future job market trends. Students repeatedly make wrong choices towards the career path due to their own misconceptions, unawareness, peer-pressure, or parents force them to make choices.
•Students target and pursue professions that are over saturated or highly competitive in terms of employability.
•Majority of our students are fit for vocational courses but unfortunately pursuing such courses have become a social stigma even though employability outcome of such courses is very high.
•Unfortunately. instead of taking up vocational courses, majority of the students end up enrolling themselves in substandard courses from substandard institutions/universities where employability outcome is extremely poor.
•Majority of our students are not aware and focused towards public sector or government jobs. They are unaware that large number of government jobs are available after class X & XII through various competitions.
•Students are equally missing on entrepreneurship or selfemployability.
The government has very thoughtfully introduced the "New Education Policy -2020" to address these issues by bridging the gap between educational institutions and employability. The policy is being implemented in schools, colleges, and universities to promote employability driven quality education.
Unity College is already well aligned with the objective of the New Education Policy and is working along with teachers and parents towards the holistic development of its students. We at Unity College stand committed to giving better facilities to students in Academics, Sports, Cultural, Technical, Multi-Media, Arts, Social and Cultural Activities which would help them to discover their areas of interest. We arc working to enhance the quality of employability driven education at Unity. This is inclusive of active participation of our students in sports, extracurricular and literary activities. Inculcation of Strong Character Traits, Moral Values, Personality Development, Strong Communication Skills, Computer Literacy, Creativity, and Career Guidance are well integrated in this development process.
This magazine showcases the milestones covered by the College towards grooming our students to become productive human capital for our nation.
This would not have been possible but for the sacrifices, dedication, perseverance, and well-planned concerted efforts of all the stake-holders. I pray and wish them great success ahead in this endeavour.
Thank you and kind regards

I am overwhelmed with joy as I bear witness to the resplendent evolution that our College Magazine undergoes with the passage of each year. Like a shimmering jewel in the crown of our institution, our publication serves as a living testament to the unbounded nature of improvement. With every new edition, the magazine effortlessly surpasses its predecessor, not only in its visual splendor but also in the sheer depth and brilliance of its content. It is with a sense of admiration that I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the contributors, whose unwavering dedication and commitment have brought this magnificent edition to life.
Simultaneously, our esteemed College continues to chart an awe-inspiring trajectory on the grand canvas of progress, etching an indelible mark in the realms of academia, sports, and a myriad of other activities. This year's ISC and ICSE results have shattered all prior records, leaving us astounded. A palpable sense of awe envelops us as we witness the ever-increasing ranks of students achieving the remarkable distinction of securing an astounding 90% marks, fostering within us an unshakeable faith in a future brimming with infinite possibilities. I extend my warmest congratulations to the exceptional faculty members and the diligent students for this awe-inspiring achievement.
As we stand on the edge of the unknown, looking ahead to the future, I want to extend my sincerest wishes for the years to come. Together, as a united college community, let's embark on this limitless journey, driven by an unwavering ambition that knows no bounds. May good fortune shine upon us as we fearlessly forge ahead, reaching new heights of excellence and leaving an everlasting legacy for generations to follow.

As the Principal of the College, 1 feel honoured and privileged to be a part of an educational institution where the teaching - learning strategies are in line with the NEP 2020. No doubt, the NEP brings about a revolutionary change in society by making education accessible and affordable to all, and accountable too. Its practical approach of sustainable development transforms India into a vibrant society by making education more holistic, flexible and multidisciplinary, while bringing out the unique capabilities of each student to fit in the 21st century multiple, novel avenues.
In sync with the motto of NEP "Educate Encourage Enlighten", Unity College religiously believes in the incredible power of Education. In the words of Founder President (Late) Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq, "Ignorance and poverty are the enemies of a community. It can be swept away by education only as it is the most promising tool for progress and power. justice and integrity." Truly, the root of all empowerment lies in Education. The College aims to deliver high-quality and equitable education which motivates and empowers our students to be lifelong learners and productive members of the society. At Unity, Education is not just the amount of information that is put into a child's brain. Our education system is the one that caters to the individual needs of our students via a number of counselling and career guidance programmes like Rehnuma Mentorship, Aliens, CST. etc.
In the present progressive era where every moment brings in a new innovation in technology, the College adopted the latest paradigm shift to digital platforms to provide ample opportunities to students to grasp and think critically and lead the learning process that is at par with the hi-competitive erudition. Our objective is not only to facilitate the top quality education and produce successful professionals but also to stimulate the holistic growth of a child who will one day prove to be a model citizen of the Country. As we introspect on the last productive years, we find it gratifying that the academic progress of the College is marked by imbibing in its students value based education synergized with modern teaching-learning technology to produce a generation ofwel I informed and emotionally sound generation.
The teachers at Unity are exceptionally competent and possess expertise in their individual fields, strive hard to concentrate on each and every child, monitor and mentor them, appreciate their achievement and encourage them to overcome their shortcomings. Besides. all the teachers are given equal opportunities to evolve new ways of teaching, keeping in mind the modules of National Education Policy 2020. Regular Teacher Training programmes and Orientations ensure substantial support to each student's learning experience through quality instruction and guidance that addresses each student's specific needs both academically and socially. Even the parents' contribution is roped in via orientations and seminars to ensure their active support in the education of their wards and the College activities as well.
We. the Unity Family, firmly believe that in the dictum of the Quote:
"Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success." I wish my team the best of dividends in achieving the pinnacles of success which our College reckons and aspires for. With best wishes and God's blessings!!!
