  • CAREER COUNSELLING PROGRAMME AT UNITY

    A comprehensive Career Counselling Programme was organised for Classes XI and XII Science, Commerce and Humanities students of Unity College on zoom with an aim to abreast them with various career fields and opportunities when they find themselves at the crossroads of multiple choices. At this crucial time, the right guidance navigates their course of action to higher success and a brighter future. The online sessions were conducted by Mr. S.M.Raza, Academic Head, Allen Career Institute, Srinagar, and coordinated by College Counsellor Ms. Nisar Fatima. Along with the students and parents, the faculty too attended the said programme. On 21stMay, 2021, Counsellor Mr. Raza addressed the humanities batches of session 2021 and 2022.He told the students about the various career opportunities like UPSC, NDA, BSA and many more. In addition, he gave valuable tips to prepare and crack the entrance exams of reputed colleges. Lastly, he interacted with each student and cleared their doubts and queries. On 23rdMay, 2021, Mr. Raza addressed the Commerce students and apprised them of various career streams other than the traditional ones. He gave an insight about CA, ICWA, CS, and details of CUCET examinations. On 29thMay, 2021, the online session was attended by Science students and their parents who were more than 50 in number. Mr. Raza began the session by briefing the students about the importance of choosing the right career that accords their aptitude, attitude, individual interest and passion. He further spoke to the students about various employment opportunities and sectors available In India. The students gained knowledge about the eligibility required to approach the right institute. Moreover, Mr. Raza told the students to remain positive during this time of the pandemic and avail the opportunities which are in hand. In true sense, he not only focused his address on academic excellence, but also emphasized on social skills as he concluded his lecture saying, “With a good career, it is important to be a good human.”College Secretary Mr. Najmul Hasan Rizvi proposed a vote of thanks to Mr. S.M. Raza for guiding the students and letting them know about the different career options. He also added his own invaluable inputs for the prospective aspirants. Overall, the series of webinars for all the three streams were fruitful as well as informative for the students. The rich learning experience gave them food for thought to carve a niche for themselves.

    CAREER COUNSELLING FOR STUDENTS THROUGH WEBINAR ICS

    On 27th May, 2021 the students of Class XII of Unity College with their counterparts from other Colleges logged in to attend an hour-long Webinar ‘Career Guidance Programme’ organised under the aegis of Founder Director Dr. Amrita Das, Institute for Career Studies,Lucknow. The online session was coordinated by Counsellor Ms. Nisar Fatima Rizvi and attended by the College faculty also. The objective of the webinar was to help aspiring students to pursue the field of their choice that accords their passion as well as potential.The tagline of the webinar was ‘Right Course at Right Time’, that is the requisite channel to realise one’s dream. At the onset, Co-host Ms. SanchitaDwivedi gave a brief introduction explaining the significance of Career Counselling for the outgoing students. Dr Das provided an insight on career prospects in all the three domains namely Science, Commerce and Humanities.In addition, she gave an overview of various academic campuses to look forward to. The career journey was presented in a very comprehensive manner via graphs and flowcharts on eye-catching PPTs.The students found it very easy to grasp as well as analyse all the options, and choose the most suitable career for themselves. Dr. Das emphasized that a career decision is one of the most significant decision in one’s life, and therefore it must not be taken under parents’ compulsion and peer pressure. Lastly, she shared career stories of some students who followed their passion and now are doing extremely well in their chosen fields. In the end, during the interactive session, she also answered the questions raised by attendees and cleared their doubts. The virtual counselling event that successfully dealt with the dynamic needs of the aspirants culminated in big dreams and resolutions.
