“You can speak well if your tongue can deliver the message of your heart.” These words of John Ford rightly go with the flow when elocution is practised. An Elocution Competition is not only about speaking some mugged literary piece in front of an audience. This practice is profoundly used for digging out the oratory skills, accent, diction and other features of public speaking. Hence, it has been categorised among one of the most significant curricular activities in schools and colleges. On 30thMay, 2021, an Elocution Contest for classes VII, VIII and IX was held online with an aim to hone the latent literary talent of the students and to bring about some positivity in the tensed Pandemic atmosphere. It was organised by Teacher Ms. Mahlaqua Siddiqui as a Class Event. The poem and extract selected were only from the text books, just to abreast them with the necessary nuances of literature. Each one spoke extremely well with clarity which hinted at their being well trained. It was a treat to listen to their impressive deliveries. And the audience listened with rapt attention. The judge of the event was Ms. AnjumFarheen, a reputed English Teacher of G.G.I.C., Satrikh. Her input was all praise for the confidence, voice modulation, clarity and expression of the zealous speakers. The result was declared amidst great applause.
