    Unity College observed Husain Day amidst all devotion and poignancy on 24th October 2019 with an aim to commemorate the sacrifice and martyrdom of Imam Husain (A.S.) while sensitizing the students towards humanity, love, peace and sacrifice. The occasion was graced with the benign presence of Maulana Saeedul Hasan, Maulana Kazim Abbas Khan, Prof. S. Tehzeebul Hasan Abidi and Prof. Husain Jafri, Joint Secretary Dr. M. Talha and Principal Mr. Francis Castelino. The guests were warmly welcomed with Salaam by the students in an Abaya and a placard in hand spreading the teachings of Imam Husain (A.S.) They presented a magnificent sightas the unending row of students stood along the corridorholding placards bearing the teachings of Imam Husain (A.S.). Addressing the gathering, Principal Mr. Francis Castelino said any commemoration is never enough, now we have to imbibe the lessons of tolerance and sacrifice, and stand strongly for social justice, truth and dignity in the face of corruption and tyranny. And the world will become a happy, peaceful dwelling place. The soulful commencement with the rendition of Surah Rehman prevailed upon the spiritual ambience. Prof. S. Tehzeebul Hasan Abidi shared his deep emotions for Imam Husain (A.S.) in a couple of ‘Ashaars’. It was followed by a string of mournful Soz, Marsiya, Rubaai, Salaam and inspiring speeches given by the students of the College and Unity College II Shift as well. The reiterated expressions and resounding virtues of truth, courage, tolerance, sacrifice, peace and brotherhood against social injustice, corruption and tyranny moved one and all. Tears and sobbing offered a solemn tribute to the Third Imam.Last but not the least, Maulana Saeedul Hasansaid that the remembrance of Karbala Martyrdom is not only for mourning but for a social revival of family bonding and duty, the ideology of life and death, and the virtues of courage and devotion. The religious congregation culminated with a vote of thanks by the II Shift Principal Ms. Shabana Ahmed.
