“Be in the company of successful persons and you will be successful.” In keeping with this belief, Unity College religiously arranges motivational lectures of achievers with an aim to motivate and inspire the students. On 14th November, Major Anwar Raza addressed the students. He is an ex-student of Unity College of 2003 batch. Sharing his success ladder, he told that he belongs to old Lucknow where there was not a single ‘Grade’ Officer or any army man for live motivation in his time. Thus lack of inspiration, exposure and guidance had left many among his peer group behind inspite of being much more capable than him. He compared the career options with the dungeon of the Bara-Imambara. In case, you have entered the wrong door, by the time you come out it will be too late to pursue the career you dreamt of. He exhorted them to dreambig, be focused and persevere. He further abreast them with the two categories of entry into the Indian Army - Permanent and Short Service, and also the date of the latest entrance test. In addition,he told that the students from the Commerce stream too can pursue a career in Defence. Besides, Defence is not the only career option, they should choose their stream according to their aptitude and then be focused and selective regarding syllabus, Moreover, being meritorious is also not the parameter of cracking competitions and getting into the right career. With an average % too they can carve a niche for themselves in the ‘A’ Grade services. The session was highly motivational as the students felt affinity with the speaker who was one from their own locality and of their own college, and now an ace-achiever.
