  • Republic Day Celebration at Unity College

    The 71st Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at Unity College on 26th January 2020. The atmosphere inside the College was surcharged with nationalism and pride as all the sister branches of Unity College; Unity College II Shift, Unity Training Center and Unity Veda Animation College gathered to salute the National flag. The entire college ground was resplendent in the shades of the Tricolour. The Chief Guest on this occasion was (Retd.) Justice Akhtar Abbas. Braving the morning chill, everyone came out with full force to pay homage to the founding fathers of the Constitution of India. The function began with the unfurling of the Tricolour, the pride of the Nation by the College President Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq followed by the National Anthem. A lively cultural programme was organized by the students. The College echoed with patriotic fervour as the children of the Primary Section of Unity College danced to a medley of patriotic songs with lots of enthusiasm. The thought provoking speeches on the significance of this momentous day were delivered by the students of both the shifts. The pyramid formation by the students of the II Shift displayed the team work and unity which left the audience speechless. Then the remarkable presentation of the II Shift reflecting women empowerment and the NukkadNatak presented by the Secondary Section morning shift portraying sprawling roots of corruption in the society followed by an action song displaying unity in diversity won the hearts of the audience. We were fortunate to have amidst us College President Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq to bless everyone. He requested everyone to join the mission of spreading education among the youth. He also shared with everyone the achievement of the students who have been invited by the Government of Japan for a Science Programme. The Chief Guest in his address highlighted the significance of the day and made the children aware that the future of the country lies in their hands. He further said that on this day we prepared our own Constitution and adopted it. So we should try to be within its limits and protect itby all means. The College Secretary Mr. Najmul Hasan Rizvi appreciated the efforts of the teachers and the students for putting up a flawless cultural programme apt for the occasion. He urged the teachers to inculcate in the students proper education and proper values and all should stand united and enlightened and have respect for the Constitution. The Principal of the College Mr. Francis Castelino congratulated everyone and also proposed a vote of thanks. The programme ended with the distribution of the sweets to the students and the staff.
