  • UNITY GIRLS JOINS THE WEBINAR COUNTDOWN TO ZERO

    As a part of DAAN UTSAV on 3rd October, 2020, a Webinar for Girls was organised by Prithvi Innovations and HASNAA Foundation with an aim to offer green insights, green gifts and guilt free green lifestyle to the young girls who have just set foot in the journey of womanhood, and also to explore the green alternatives of women’s dressings which are safe: plastic free, toxic free, affordable and do not produce waste. Besides, it was an attempt to tackle the issue of human rights and dignity of manual scavengers. GynecologistDr. MeenakshiBharath addressed the virtual meeting. Addressing the Class VII girls of Unity College, she said that growing up is always exciting for both boys and girls, and they also take pride in it. She abreast the little girls turning ladies with the physical and pubertal growth, the do’s and don’ts during periods, and gave medical advice to avert specific problems and complications. She told that waste generation is indispensable but we can always aim at waste reduction. Sustainable dressings not only help to reduce waste on earth but also improve our relationship with our periods. She also touched the myths and beliefs about MC in Indian Culture and Science behind it if any. In conclusion, she threw light on health environment economics, that is, we think single-use-disposables are convenient, but ever we have calculated what an enormous waste a woman produces every month and also how expensive it is. Why not to move to healthier, safer, and economical options! She also cleared their fears and doubts over switching to sustainable alternatives. Headmistress Ms. Kainaat Mansoor was all appreciative for the precision with which Dr. Bharath dealt with the issue of monthly cycle and sustainable dressings. Indeed, the session added value and joy to the thrilling life of young girls.
