Unity College, Lucknow organized an English Elocution Competition on 19th May, 2023, providing students from classes VI to VIII with an opportunity to hone their public speaking skills. The competition aimed to conquer stage fright and enable participants to connect with the audience while grasping the concepts of articulation and voice modulation.
The students exhibited remarkable speaking abilities, captivating the audience throughout the competition. A diverse range of poems was chosen to create the desired impact. Class VI participants recited poems such as ‘The Tummy Beast,’ ‘Mr. Nobody,’ and ‘The Little House.’ Class VII students left no stone unturned to impress with poems like ‘The Spider and the Fly,’ ‘Stopping by the Woods in a Snowy Evening,’ and ‘The Two Friends.’ Lastly, the class VIII students enchanted everyone with their performance on poems such as ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade,’ ‘O Captain! My Captain!’ and ‘Television.’
The competition was judged by English teachers, Ms. Sarah Abbas and Ms. Farheen Fatima Naqvi. The participants were evaluated based on the selection of poetry, intonation, expression, clarity, and overall performance. Principal Mr. Francis Castelino lauded the students’ efforts, while Vice Principal Mr. Sachindra Bharti announced the results and extended congratulations to the participants and their teachers for their commendable performance within a short timeframe.
