On November 10, 2023, Unity College reverberated with joy and illumination as the Pre-Primary classes came together to celebrate the festival of lights, Diwali. The event aimed not only at reveling in the festive spirit but also at imparting the significance of Diwali to the young minds.
Teachers played a pivotal role in elucidating the spiritual essence of Diwali, emphasizing its symbolic representation of the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.
Engaging hands-on activities were organised, tailored to the age groups of the Pre-Primary classes. The Lower Nursery students immersed themselves in the art of Diya making, showcasing their creativity and fine motor skills. Meanwhile, the Upper Nursery students explored the world of shapes through the creation of vibrant jet-shaped crafts. The Prep students crafted Diya Wall Hangings, adding a personalized touch to the festive decorations.
The Diya Wall Hangings, adorned with the artistic endeavours of the young minds, created a picturesque setting, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Alongside the celebrations, the event also served as a platform to sensitise students to the adverse effects of firecrackers. Teachers shared guidelines on celebrating Diwali responsibly and safely, promoting awareness about the environment.
The festivities concluded with an air of joy and contentment as both teachers and students actively participated in the Diwali celebrations.
