Unity College celebrated a spectacular Annual Sports Day on December 2, 2023, showcasing not only physical prowess but also unity, discipline, and a spirit of camaraderie. The campus was transformed into a festive arena pulsating with energy, setting the stage for a day of vibrant performances and exceptional sportsmanship.

The event was graced by the presence of the distinguished Chief Guest, Mr. S. M. Qasim Abidi, ADDL. DCP, Police Commissionerate, Lucknow, along with esteemed guests Mr. Syed Ali and Mr. Sujit Kumar, Olympians and Former Captains of the Indian Hockey Team. The College Secretary, Mr. Najmul Hasan Rizvi, Jt. Secretary Dr. M. Talha, and other Managing Committee Members added to the dignified presence.

Principal Mr. Francis Castelino welcomed the guests, paying tribute to the late Founder President, Padma Bhushan Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq Saheb. Emphasizing the College's commitment to excellence in both education and extracurricular activities, Mr. Castelino set the tone for a day that celebrated holistic growth.

Mr. Abidi, in his address, honoured the visionary Founder, Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq, emphasizing the importance of holistic development. He stressed that participation, rather than mere success or failure, holds significance. Mr. Abidi commended the school's role as a nurturing ground where future sports icons are shaped and honed.

The opening ceremony, marked by the release of colourful balloons by Mr. Abidi, set the stage for a spectacular show. National Level Sports Stars of the College - Mohd Laraib Zaidi, Arham Haider, Talib Abbas, Qaim Abbas and Hussain Mehdiled the March Pastfollowed by the NCC Battalion, Boys’ and Girls’ contingents with precision, carrying the torch of sportsmanship. The field and track events, along with Inter-House relay races, showcased the students' athleticism and teamwork, with Mohd Laraib Zaidi and Aafi Rizvi receiving honours as the Best Sports Persons of the year.

The event commenced with the Tiny Tots of Pre-Primary, whose performance of the lively drill 'Rise and Shine' was nothing short of enchanting. Their innocence and charm conveyed a powerful message of determination and perseverance, setting the tone for a day celebrating aspirations to reach great heights.

Classes I and II brought an infectious energy to the field with their performance titled 'Waqt Ki Kasauti.' Beyond the lively display, the act encapsulated values of respect for parents and teachers, emphasizing the role of students in contributing to the development of honorable Indian citizens and patriots.

The enthusiasm continued with classes III and IV, whose drill 'Divided by Teams-United by Cricket' immersed the audience in the thrilling world of cricket. The attire and graceful movements vividly portrayed a sense of athletic solidarity, capturing the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Class V showcased meticulous execution in the 'ISRO Cosmic Adventure' drill, presenting scintillating moves while providing an eloquent commentary on India's space achievements. From Chandrayan-I to Chandrayan-III, the panoramic depiction of launches culminated in an atmosphere of euphoric jubilation.

The lively string of performances reached its zenith as classes VI to VIII girls took the stage with the dazzling show 'Breaking Barriers-Soaring High.' This visually stunning drill, with its mesmerizing patterns and melodious lines, captivated onlookers and paid homage to Janab, a trailblazer in the revolutionary reform for girls' education and empowerment. 

The culmination, highlighting classes IX and XI, was truly a spectacular spectacle.Awe-inspiring pyramids and breathtaking jumps through rings of fire showcased not just physical strength but also exceptional teamwork. The resounding applause that followed echoed across the campus, creating an unending chorus of appreciation for moments that felt eternally vibrant.

Secretary Mr. Najmul Hasan Rizvi expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks, acknowledging the hard work of students and teachers. He echoed Mr. Abidi's emphasis on holistic student development, encompassing academics, sports, and overall grooming.

Unity College's Annual Sports Day concluded as a resounding success, leaving an indelible mark as a day of synergistic celebration of strength, discipline, and integrity. The event truly embodied the spirit of unity in diversity, showcasing the potential and unity of the College community.
