World Health Day is observed on 7th April annually and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. It is an initiative taken by World Health Organisation (WHO) to raise awareness about the overall health and well-being of people across the world.
Owing to the increasing number of diseases and illnesses around the world, the Primary section at Unity College conducted different innovative health activities on 7th April, 2022 to sensitize students about the significance of good health and opt for a healthy lifestyle. The main purpose of celebration was to ensure global health by sensitizing its need among the students and masses.
Following are the fun activities that were conducted for Classes I to V.
Students of Class I first had an introductory Question Answer session on World Health Day.
Physical fitness is a priority for all and Exercise is the best way to keep oneself physically and psychologically strong especially in the present challenging situation. The little ones were directed to perform head-shoulders-knees and toes activity with light music playing in the background. It was followed by spot jogging and controlled clapping and laughter session which they enjoyed thoroughly.
Class II students were given a series of introductory questions on health and were briefed about its importance. It was followed by warm up exercises, laughing therapy and aerobics with music. The children basked on the ground and performed various Yoga Asanas along with meditation under the guidance of their teachers.
To particularly lay stress upon the need to give up on junk food and switch to healthier food options, Class III students were briefed on the profound benefits of developing healthy food habits. The little ones also enjoyed doing outdoor activities like Yoga, jogging and aerobics to the core.
Class IV students had an outdoor Yoga session where they indulged in laughter therapy followed by meditation. It was a treat to the eyes to see the children performing with so much zeal and enthusiasm.
Class V students were briefed about the importance of World Health Day and subsequently learnt how to balance physical and mental stress. They had to perform different stretches along with their teachers who demonstrated various Exercises and Yoga Asanas that calm the mind and the soul. It created interest among the students to learn Yoga and have fun simultaneously.
At the end of the session, the teachers encouraged the students to exercise and practice Yoga regularly to remain physically fit and healthy and also spread the awareness among the masses.
