On July 9, 2024, Unity College warmly welcomed a delegation of sisters from the Hamgaman Institute in Iran. They briefed the College Administration and Theology Department on their global "Tarbiyah" (self-growth) program, which aims to foster understanding and cooperation while promoting a blend of knowledge and spirituality.
Sister Fatima, speaking for the delegation, thanked the College for hosting them. Addressing the students, she emphasised the human purpose of striving for perfection. Referring to surah ‘Iqra’, she encouraged the audience to harness their faculties to the fullest, combining scientific knowledge with spiritual growth. Additionally, she urged them to cultivate a strong connection with Allah to strengthen their faith and guide their actions on the right path.
Highlighting that worldly knowledge alone is insufficient, Sister Fatima stressed the importance of self-growth and personal development. She posed a thought-provoking question, "Why did Allah create humans as the best of all creations?"emphasising the responsibility that comes with this privilege. She attributed modern unhappiness to a lack of inner peace and emphasised gratitude and using Allah's blessings for inner tranquillity.
The College Secretary, Mr Najmul Hasan Rizvi, praised Sister Fatima's remarkable literary contributions of over 200 books and echoed her call for striving for perfection. He used a metaphor of melting ice to urge making the most of opportunities. The Secretary invited the delegation to provide a comprehensive overview of the Tarbiyah program for potential integration into the College's curriculum.
The students were deeply inspired and grateful for Sister Fatima's words of wisdom, which served as a reminder of the importance of spiritual growth, self-reflection, and service to others.
