On June 26, 2024, Unity College held a heartfelt farewell for Mr Francis Castelino, who served as Principal for 20 years with wisdom, grace, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Beyond being the head of the College, Mr Castelino was a mentor, guide, friend, and guardian to faculty and students alike. His open-door policy, compassionate nature, and visionary leadership greatly enhanced the academic performance of students and fostered a nurturing environment.
The event began with a welcome address by the new Principal, Mr Deepak Mathews, who presented Mr Castelino with saplings, acknowledging his love for greenery. Secretary Mr Najmul Hasan Rizvi praised Mr Castelino for leading the College to new heights and facing challenges undauntedly.
Administrative Officer Mr Farman Kazmi enchanted the audience with a mellifluous ghazal, ‘MausamAayenge, Jayenge, HumTumkoBhula Na Paayenge.’ Teacher Mr. ShahidulHaq Siddiqui struck an emotional chord with the old melody ‘Yeh Shaam Ki Tanhaiyan, Aise Main TeraGham.’ Office Superintendent Mr Shahid Husain beautifully expressed his sentiments in a self-composed nazm.
Headmistress Ms Kainaat Mansoor expressed her gratitude for Mr Castelino's mentorship. Principal II Shift Ms Shabana Ahmad and Counsellor Ms Nisar Fatima also highlighted Mr Castelino's supportive nature.
In his speech, Mr Castelino reminisced about his time at the College and fondly acknowledged the guidance and support of Founder President Late Dr S Kalbe Sadiq, Former Secretary Late Brigadier Yawar Husain, Former Chairman Late Mr Muhammad Amir Mohammed Khan 'Raja of Mahmudabad,’ and Former Administrative Officer Mr Sajjad Naqi. He also expressed profound gratitude to the current Heads and dedicated staff, wishing the College continued success and happiness.
Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti proposed a vote of thanks, expressing his indebtedness to Mr Castelino for his invaluable guidance. The event concluded with a farewell lunch and personal goodbyes.
