UNITY COLLEGE ENGAGES IN WAR OF WORDS

Unity College organised its annual Inter-House Debate Competition on August 3, 2024. The four Houses clashed in a fierce battle of words, showcasing their eloquence and argumentative skills. Each team was given two topics to prepare in advance, with the final topic being selected through a chit system on the day of the event.

The senior teams debated the topic, "It is ethical for governments to monitor citizens’ online practices for security purposes," while the junior teams engaged in the discussion on, "Democracy is the best form of government." The atmosphere was charged with passionate arguments and counterarguments, as speakers presented their viewpoints with conviction and confidence.

Dr M Talha, the Jt Secretary, noted the significant participation of girls in the event, underscoring the importance of public speaking for both genders. He emphasised that the focus should not be solely on winning but on active participation and learning.Principal Mr Deepak Mathews echoed Dr Talha's sentiments, stressing that while there can only be one winner, there is always another opportunity for the others to learn from their experiences and improve.
The judges for the event, Ms Shabana Ahmad, Principal of Unity College II Shift, and Ms Farha Naqvi, Senior English Teacher, II Shift, commended the young debaters for their articulate and logical presentations.
