Labour Day or International Workers' Day is observed each year on the first day of May to celebrate the achievements of the working class. It is a reminder for us that these are the real architects of our society and they deserve their due respect.
The Pre-Primary and Primary Section at Unity College organised a medley of activities for the students to salute the efforts of the labour force. The activity was designed to forge a better understanding of the labour community among our students who must learn to respect and appreciate their efforts.
The Tiny tots of Class Prep celebrated the Labour Day by doing fun-filled craft activities. They were involved in making ‘Thank You’ cards through Origami for the support staff. The children expressed gratitude by giving these self-made cards to all the helpers of the College. In Upper Nursery, children made Firemen byHand printing and LN students printed tiny bricks on the wall.
Class I students brought chocolates, chips and other snack items as a token of respect for the menial staff while Class II students wrote thank you letters to the dedicated workers whom they admire the most. Class III students made beautifully decorated healthy food hampers for the helping staff out of old boxes with a variety of food items inside them.Class IV showed appreciation for the community helpers by presenting the College peons and helpers with beautiful hand-made paper bouquets while Class V students made beautiful hand-made 'Thank you cards' for the helping staff and presented them enthusiastically. The housekeeping staff were overwhelmed by this acts of thankfulness.
Overall it was a fruitful day which taught our little ones to be thankful to everyone.
