Unity College, Lucknow, hosted its annual Felicitation Ceremony for Pre-Primary and Primary students on October 29, 2024. The event celebrated the academic achievements and exemplary character displayed by the students in the academic year 2023-2024.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Venkateshwarlu- IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, UP Government, Lucknow. The event was also graced by Prof Dr Sabira Habib - Ex HOD, Department of Russian Language, University of Lucknow, Dr S Kalbe Sibtain Noorie - Manager, Unity College II Shift, Mr S Kalbe Mehdi,College Secretary Mr Najmul Hasan Rizvi, Jt Secretary Dr M Talha, Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews, Vice-Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti.
Tuba Ahmad (XI C) and Ahmad Yasir (XI C), the event anchors, warmly welcomed the esteemed guests, students, and faculty, setting a respectful tone with recitations from the Holy Quran, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, and the Bible. Principal Mr Mathews warmly welcomed the distinguished guests. In his address, he expressed pride in the students’ achievements and the teachers’ dedication, while also commending the parents for their excellent support in nurturing their children.
In a delightful series of award presentations, the event recognised Pre-Primary students for categories including Best Student, Best Discipline, Best Writing, Best Groomed, and 100% Attendance. Primary students received accolades for Best Student, 100% Attendance, Most Disciplined, Best Sports Boy and Girl, Best Groomed, and high academic performance, including First, Second, and Third Rank Holder awards.
A memorable highlight was the choir’s heartfelt performance of the College Tarana, ‘Unity College Se WaabastaHamaariShaan Hai,’ capturing the essence and pride of the event with its soulful melody.
Chief Guest Mr Venkateshwarlu paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Dr S Kalbe Sadiq, Founder President of the College, for establishing this prestigious institution in the city. He highlighted the unique talents of each child, emphasising the importance of their holistic development. In a country rich in saints and great leaders, he reminded us that India embodies unity in diversity. It is the responsibility of every citizen to embrace tolerance and understanding, transcending all differences and work together for its progress.
Secretary Mr Najmul Hasan Rizvi delivered a Vote of Thanks, praising Mr Venkateshwarlu as an exceptionally educated and high-ranking officer, yet remarkably humble—drawing a comparison to APJ Abdul Kalam. Echoing his sentiments, he emphasised the unique intellectual potential of each child and urged parents and teachers to nurture these abilities to help them achieve success.Dr Sabira Habib commended the College for its strict adherence to scheduled timings, emphasising the importance of valuing time.
The event culminated with the National Anthem, rounding off a day of pride and accomplishment at Unity College.
