In a heartfelt tribute to their Founder, Padma Bhushan (Late) Dr S Kalbe Sadiq, the students of Unity College organised a donation drive to support the underprivileged. Held from November 21 to 23, 2024, the initiative embodied Janab’s lifelong dedication to uplifting the needy and addressing societal inequalities. The donation drive was conducted under the guidance of Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews, Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti, Headmistress Ms Kainaat Mansoor, and College Counsellor Ms Nisar Fatima Rizvi.
On November 21, a team of students and teachers from Primary to Senior Secondary Sections, along with the Student Cabinet, visited Karunalaya, a home for 38 individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Brother Lawrence, the caretaker, shared insights into the facility’s operations. The team also visited Cheshire House, an Old Age Home in South City with 21 residents. Essential items such as stationery, food, woollen clothes, blankets, toiletries, and groceries were donated to both institutions, spreading warmth and care among the residents.
On November 22, the team visited ShrimadDayanandBalSadan in Motinagar, an orphanage overseen by Colonel R K Srivastav. Contributions included soaps, detergent, tea, notebooks, rice, and sugar to meet the children’s daily needs. The orphanage provides a nurturing environment for orphans, with a UP Board-affiliated school offering education up to class VIII.
The visit continued with a distribution drive at Balrampur Hospital, where blankets, gloves, and mufflers were given to patients, offering much-needed warmth in the cold season. Further contributions were made at Dariya Wali Masjid and Shia YateemKhana, reflecting the school’s commitment to serving diverse communities.
On November 23, Principal Mr Mathews, Vice Principal Mr Bharti, and Office Superintendent Mr Shahid Hussain extended a thoughtful gesture of kindness by visiting local police stations to donate room heaters. This act of empathy aimed to provide relief to the police officials braving the harsh winter season, acknowledging their relentless service to the community. The initiative not only warmed the rooms but also the hearts of those who tirelessly work to ensure public safety.
The donation drive was a resounding success, with all contributions being warmly received. Through these small yet impactful acts of kindness, the Unity College family paid a fitting tribute to Janab, whose legacy of compassion and service continues to inspire.
