On January 20, 2025, the Pre-Primary Section of Unity College celebrated Purple Day with a host of engaging activities. The event aimed to introduce the colour purple while fostering creativity, fine motor skills, and cognitive development in our young learners.
In class Prep, students embarked on a creative journey by crafting adorable purple octopuses. Using a combination of purple paper, markers, paper cups, and googly eyes, they brought their imaginative creations to life, honing their fine motor skills and artistic expression.
Upper Nursery students delved into the theme with the ‘G is for Grapes’ activity. They enthusiastically pasted purple circles, glitter leaves, and googly eyes onto the letter ‘G’ in their scrapbooks, reinforcing the association between the colour purple and grapes while enhancing their fine motor skills and visual-motor coordination.
Lower Nursery students explored the colour purple through a hands-on approach. They engaged in grape printing using thumb and sponge printing techniques, adding a playful and tactile dimension to their learning experience.
Purple Day proved to be a memorable and enriching experience, sparking creativity and joy among the children. Through these creative and engaging activities, the children not only learned about the colour purple but also developed essential skills and fostered a love for learning. The excitement and enthusiasm displayed by the students throughout the day made it a truly unforgettable event.
