Unity College witnessed an exhilarating display of cricketing talent as the Inter-House Junior Boys Cricket Tournament culminated in a thrilling final on January 28, 2025. The decisive match was played between Tagore House and Iqbal House, with Iqbal House winning the toss and opting to field first.
Batting first, Tagore House posted a competitive total of 137 runs in 12 overs, losing eight wickets. Shuraif Raza (VII-A) was the standout performer, scoring an impressive 68 runs. In response, Iqbal House struggled under pressure, losing three wickets in the very first over. Their innings collapsed quickly, and they were all out for just 43 runs. Tagore House secured a resounding victory for the Champion House.
The Special Awards of the tournament recognised outstanding individual performances. Shuraif Raza(VII-A) of Tagore House was named Best Batter for his stellar 73-run performance and also secured the Best All-Rounder award for scoring 68 runs and taking one wicket. Mohd Baqir (VIII-A) of Tagore House was honoured as the Best Bowler for his exceptional nine-wicket haul, while Mohd Haider (VIII-C) of Sir Syed House earned the Best Fielder award for his brilliant seven catches.
Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews expressed his delight at witnessing the emerging cricketing talent among the students.He commended the players for their dedication and determination, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence in sports.
The tournament was a testament to the spirit of healthy competition and teamwork, leaving the spectators enthralled and setting a high benchmark for future sporting events at the College.
