The echoes of exhilaration and jubilation filled the campus as Unity College celebrated the festive spirit of Christmas and the approaching New Year through a special morning assembly, conducted in perfect harmony with the joyous mood of the season. The assembly was organised around an all-red theme, symbolising love, warmth, and festivity. Santa Claus and a Christmas celebration model set the tone for the joyful assembly. The occasion was graced by the presence of Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews and Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti.
The programme commenced on a solemn note with the recitation of Qirat by Mohd Arham (VII-B), followed by the Pledge led by Syed IbtedaZehra Rizvi (VI-A), instilling values of unity and responsibility among students. Adding musical charm to the celebration, the Primary students presented the melodious carol ‘O Christmas Tree’, captivating the audience with their innocence and enthusiasm. The Secondary students enthralled everyone with a lively carol medley, featuring ‘Joy to the World’, ‘Jingle Bells’, and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’. The assembly was energetically and gracefully anchored by Areeba Mehdi Husain (VII-B), keeping the festive spirit alive throughout.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews appreciated the well-organised and meaningful assembly, and commended the efforts of the organisers, Ms SeemaKazmi , Ms AnamHaider, Ms Mehnaz Mehdi and Ms ShahwarTaqvi. He highlighted that festivals like Christmas are celebrated across the world as symbols of love, forgiveness, and harmony. The address emphasised that the true essence of festivals lies not in attire, food, or decoration, but in preparing our hearts with compassion, humility, and good intentions. He encouraged the students to reflect on their actions, let go of jealousy and ego—the greatest barriers to peace—and practise forgiveness and love for one another. The message reinforced that loving one’s neighbour, forgiving mistakes, and shedding negativity form the foundation of every festival. The onset of the New Year was presented as an opportunity to take sincere resolutions, seek forgiveness, and strive to become better human beings.
The assembly concluded with warm festive wishes, reminding everyone that celebrations become meaningful only when we resolve to nurture kindness, respect, and humanity within ourselves.
