Career counselling is the process of guiding students on the path to self-discovery and self realization, working with them patiently, supporting them as they weed out self-doubts and make surer decisions based on their interests, leading to long-term satisfaction with their choices and a life lived with a purpose. An interactive Career Counselling Session was organised at Unity College by the Institute of Company Secretaries (ICSI) on 26th August, 2022 for Commerce studentsof classes XI and XII.
The Institute of Company Secretaries (ICSI) is a premier national professional body constituted under an Act of the Parliament (Company Secretaries Act, 1980). It functions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. ICSI has been set up to regulate and develop the profession of Company Secretaries.
The resource persons for the session,Ms. Samara Rizvi (CS) and Mr. Ravi, Office In charge, Institute of ICSI, Gomtinagar, were accorded a warm welcome by the Principal, Mr. Francis Castelino. Thesession was also attended by Vice Principal, Mr. Sachindra Bharti andteachers from the Senior Section- Mr. Suhail Raza, Mr. Ishan D. Singh and Ms. Ghazala Jafri.
Students were enthralled to learn about the endless career opportunities they could opt for after pursuing the Company Secretary (CS) course. They acknowledged the fact that CS is a multitasking job, which could even provide them a chance to open their autonomous firms and work independently. Ms. Samara Rizvi motivated students to opt for the CS Course andinspired them to be patient and goal-oriented in their varied endeavours by thinking big. Later, Mr. Ravi briefed the students about the registration process, course details, examination pattern and availability of institutes for training.
The students cleared their doubts by asking various questions regarding the confusions, theyusually face while deciding their career. The question answer session lasted for a long time, wherein the keen and enthusiastic students posed a volley of questions to the resource persons. Ms. Samara Rizvi appreciated the students for asking valid and interesting questions and taking keen interest in the program.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal, Mr. Sachindra Bharti, where he extended his gratitude to the resource persons, teachers and all the students for making the event a big success.
